Apache htpasswd.exe trouble!

Postby Limp » Sun Oct 31, 2004 12:16 am

I'm trying to password protect a folder in Apache. I have read many many tutorials and they all lead to the htpasswd.exe which wont run on my machine. When i execute it it flashes and disapears. I tryed to open it in command prompt and that didnt work either. No error message or anything. Apache Server works fine. I can access my pages and everything. I dont know what the deal is. Does anyone know how to fix this :?: :)
I'm running Windows XP pro SP2

The AllowOverride directive is a prerequisite to having htpasswd work in Apache.

I think the command line you need to use is:
c:\program files\apachegroup\apache2\bin\htpasswd -c /program files/apachegroup/apache2/bin/passwd/passwords "yourloginname"
(without the quotes around your login name)

Apache has full documentation on how to set this all up, you can read all about it .
