CONNECTING TWO PC'S ?

Postby debsteve1 » Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:06 pm

Hi, I have built a new PC and am putting old one in my son's room upstairs. What is the BEST/FASTEST way to connect the 2 pc's togethet?, I DO want to be able to use my ISDN internet connection for both pc's maybe thats all but thought it might be an idea to be able to access each pc from one. Also I would like to keep the cost down but if this means a great speed loss then maybe not. on my NEW pc I have an onboard LAN connection at the back and I have a 10/100 ethernet card which could go into Sons pc if needed. this is all I have no cable etc.... also what about wireless connection?.

Thanks in advance Steve.

The easiest and cheapest way to do this would be a cross-over cable between the two systems’s ethernet cards.

Then setup internet connection sharing on your system so your son can surf.

ethernet card about $15.00 (us)

crossover cable about $0.75 a foot (us)

Nope - none atall, either between the 2 computers or between you & an internet server.
