Heatsink Fan

Postby Tank » Mon Nov 08, 2004 11:12 pm

Hey all. Well I have decided to upgrade my Heatsink and Fan from the Cooler Master XDream ll to the Jet 7 with the 3.5'' Controller! I love this fan, looks just like a Jet Engine off a Airplane and has 2 LED's! It cools ALOT better to. Although, only bad thing I hear is that when it runs at it's top speed, 3000 RPM, it makes a annoying high pitched squealing noise, is is true and if so, is it very noticeable? Anyone have the fan that cna give me a first hand opinon?

Also, it is Cooler Masters best fan I think, what's everyone think, is it good?

Its definatley a sweet looking fan
After doing some searching I thought I'd pass along some Pros and Cons

PROS

Moves more air / cools better than Aero line
Dead silent at low RPM
Very light weight
Unique styling

CONS

Fan control cable may not be long enough for proper routing to 3.5” controller
Flashing white LED can be annoying
Mounting clip can still be challenging to latch in tight places
Base could use a little bit more polishing

When you say 3000 RPM's...is that idle or high usage?
I use Cool'N'Quite so my RPM's differ under certain loads.
The MOBO controls the Fan Speeds as the Load increases or decreases.
Sitting idle the Fan spins at around 2033 RPM's
The highest its gotten under load here is 3300 RPM ,and no noise from it.
If it wasn't so lit up you wouldn't know I had it on...pretty quite PC.
The Fan you choose seems like a good fan.
Make sure it's seated properly. I don't think the noise is a problem, more of a nuisance.

Good luck...
