LOL now help me please, I have a similar problem with new RAM. I have Everest, so if you want to know some type of information ask me and I wil check it. At the moment I have windows xp pro sp2, Pentium 3 processor 800MHz with only 128MB of RAM installed. I have anohter 2 RAM sticks of 256MB each to use (if they are compatible). All RAM sticks are SDRAM PC133.
The problem I'm having is that if I put a 256MB stick with the 128MB installed, it will read them together only as 256MB, even if I install only the 256MB (it reads it as a 128MB - half).
When I first installed the 256MB of RAM with the 128MB, it was all OK (but it was reading only 256MB too). But after a while my PC started to reboot on its own, and with the help of PC Techforums I've found that the 256MB of RAM was faulty. And this was really getting me crazy. Afterwards, still with 256MB (128 + 256), my PC started to reboot when it's still loading windows (about 20 times before windows loads)
I had not any choices, so I have removed the 256MB and now I'm working only with a 256MB. But, you can imagine how slow it is a system running WinXP Pro with only 128MB of RAM. So I really want at least another 128MB. Any help or suggestions mates? Remember I have another 2 sticks, 256MB each to test on. I know it's confusing
Thanks in advance.
