I'm not sure which OS this is for... but it may help
When you close down your computer do you get the message:
"it is now safe to turn off your computer" and you have to power
off manually?
To perform an automatic shutdown do the following:
Hit windows key + pause/break- this launches the system
properties box. Click on the hardware tab then device manager.
Expand the computer branch (click on the +) and check if it says
"standard PC" if it doesn't you can't perform an automatic
shutdown.
Next, right mouse click on a blank area of your desktop, choose
properties | screensaver | power.
Click the APM tab and check the box that says:
"Enable advanced power management support"
click ok.
The next time you close down windows it will power down your PC
automatically and you wont get the message.
I got it from this
