Hi speed USB host controllers...

Postby Junior_co » Fri Dec 10, 2004 2:52 am

I get this message when I plug in my nifty new jump drive...

The USB Mass Storage Device will function at reduced speed. You must add a HI-SPEED USB host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance.

Does this mean a hard ware change or is there a software setting somewhere that would change this???

I'm thinking that the USB's are all coming off the mother board, but won't know for sure till a this weekend. (work and stuff gettin in the way....)

Also, if you wouldn't mind... A little bit of back round info on this topic would be great....

Thanks again

Your motherboard may have USB 1.0 or 1.1 and your jump drive may be designed to use USB 2.0 interface for full performance. You could get a card that supports usb 2.0. Here is a link to one of those cards » .
Here are a few articles that you could check out also»

Hope this helps
