yes i have the hyperion drivers and at msi's website they give me a usb driver filter or something. and i already have that installed.

do you know how i can set windows to use the default drivers used in safe mode because i don't really use my usb 2.0 and i really would just like usb 1.0/1.1 if possible

Have you gone to "Device Manager" as I described above? When you select you USB devices and select "Properties" / Drivers tab, have you tried "Roll Back Drivers"?

on the unknown device it says there have not been any previous drivers loaded for this device and when i try to rollaback any thing else other than one of my two onboard usb 2.0 hubs it gives the same error, but for one of the usb 2.0 hubs it rolls back to a regular usb host controller.
BUT! its still give the same error....... :mad:

After re-reading I've got two questions.
Did the two devices ever work at one time? I mean, did they once work and then just stop?
Have you tried uninstalling both devices, rebooting, and then installing them? (one at a time)

Yes they both work, what happened is these devices among others worked but then i got a new mother board and it's been downhill since...
They do work(I've tested them on other computers) but not on my pc. I'm starting to think that it's my motherboard because my freind has the exact same mother board, except his works, and we both have windows xp Professional, but he didn't need anything except for the service pack. so I don't know exactly how to prove/ or disprove my theory... so any suggestions?

Wow... Wish you'd told us that. Have you gone to your MoBo's site and checked on it's compatibility? I'd check there first. They may have updated drivers. brad

yeah at msi.com.tw they have a filter which just chages it from standard usb 2.0 host controller(or something like that) to a "via" usb 2.0 ..... Other than that theres nothing different.

it says usb root hub four times
then it says via rev 5 or later usb universal host controller four times
right now my usb works at the cost of sound but it says the exact same thing when my usb doesn't work; except that it also has unkown device which is a usb game pad.

p.s. i was brainstorming and i was wondering if this could be some sort of irq conflict or something. please help because i dont know very much about that.

p.p.s. i also was wondering what sort of thing is a pci input device because in between one of the recent formats an imaginary pci input device was showing up in my device manager and bios boot up screen(you know the one where it shows all the stuffin your computer)
