windows media player problems

Postby el_poojio » Sat Dec 11, 2004 9:01 pm

my windows media player has had problems since june when one of my friends tried getting rid of something on my computer. the problems, that i know of, are i cant access half the tabs on top of the player (such as options), i cant play any vidoes that open in an internet window (i cant go to the options to change that) and the ones that i can play i have to copy the location and open it in wmp, and the option to turn off mini-mode has vanished from the taskbar (so i cant reload wmp because it says i have to turn mini-mode off). so, im looking for some help. i have a few questions and feel free to correct me or suggest something of your own. is there any other way to access the options menu in wmp besides choosing the tab on top of the actual player? is there any way to turn off mini-mode besides clicking on the taskbar? are there any updates to fix this? and is there any way to delete wmp besides system restores?

sorry if it seems confusing the way i explained it. thank you in advance though for any help.

Okay, this should fix your problem.

Go to your 'Control Panel' and then select: 'Add/Remove Programs.'. Look for Windows Media Player and then highlight it. Select the add/remove option. This will remove Windows Media Player from your system. You may or may not have to restart your computer.

Next, go to website and download the latest version of WMP. Once installation has completed you may or not have to restart your computer.

Post back here once your done and tell me how things are working for you.

Download 10 series.

Heres the link mate

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.aspx

Just download it and install it and it should fix any problems you had.

In XP you can remove WMP through the Control Panel but you go to Add or Remove programs. At the side of the box you click 'Add/Remove Windows Components'.

wmp wasnt in the add/remove programs list or the add/remove windows components list. but, there was an msn explorer to remove in the windows components list and that's the only thing that seemed like itd contain wmp. should i just remove that and download it again?

Click this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.aspx

And download version 10. Run the install. This will install over the version you have already. Post back once you've done this.
