CD tray opening problem

Postby lilpinkflower » Sun Dec 12, 2004 5:02 pm

My CD/DVD tray won't open when the computer is fully booted... it lights up on boot though and if I sneak a CD in while it is booting up then everything works fine for that boot.

Any help is appreciated :)

Sounds like a power problem. A CD-Rom drive opening is connected to any drivers. Windows uses more power when your computer is fully booted. You may want to open your tower and ensure that all the power cords are connected tightly. It may also be the mtor in your drive itself.

Hey Lilpink,

Have you done anything to your computer lately that may have contributed to this lil problem (ex. added hardware... Software installs)?

In answer to Junior.

I recently moved my computer so my dad could put a shelf up above it's usual home. I unplugged everything and moved it right across the room ... I was very very careful though.

As for the software, *whistles*. I am the download queen...say no more... but I am a fairly sensible downloader :P I could not possibly tell you what i have downloaded recently... I put stuff on and off my computer all the time.
I'm wondering if Un4g1v3n is correct about the power supply.. something loose somewhere...perhaps moving the tower even carefully made a loose connection looser :(
The drive works really well as long as I can get CD's in and out of it so I'm not overly worried. I think I have to wait for a man to look in my tower ... as Un4g1v3n puts it :| hehe..... as long as I have a way of getting CD's in and out.... on boot... I can cope until then :) I don't use the drive on a daily basis...I should be fine.
