This pc is win/me based model.i bought it used with an error that was to the form of crash is "immenant".Ididn't try to resore fix it at all.,went & bought anther hd, loaded xp pro and it worked.the system hangs when a dvd is played,u know the speill!I also added a largervideo card.(gforce 5200 128mb).I want to add a dvd burner to it,but don't know if the system will be able to remain stable since there are frequent hangups .I haven't ever used win/me before and didn/t really want to.My ? is this: should I use me instead of xp with burner or is there something that I'm missing that will keep me running smoothly.

If you could post your machines system specs, and how old was the machine when you bought it?

It may be as simple as not enough RAM....

In my last post I mentioned an access violation. I wasn't insinuating that it was from this site.My "thanks in advance" was telling those who posted & those that were going to post on problem, thanks.[/i]

I updated the bios from that site when I first got it.I went to pcpitstop to see what they had to say. one thing was very poor hard disk performance.(21%)I installed it when I got the crash message in ME.the original HD was a Maxtor 96147h6 80gb. now maxtor 6e040lo 40gb. my cpu load was 100%. I clicked the comparison link & my 'pute was 4 times deficeit than the similar models that they compared it to in every field!
