Cat 5/ 5e/ 6 cables...

Postby Junior_co » Fri Dec 17, 2004 9:35 am

Is it safe to assume that all can be used in setting up a home network? All the literature that I've read on this is to use cat 5 cables... Can only fine 5e.

Just wanted to make sure that wires don't cross or something in the different catagories...

Thanks again

Yes they all are designed for computer networking.

Cat 5 is the minimum that you should use, it designed for 1-100 MHz
Cat 5e is made to more stringent standards than Cat 5, it designed for 1-100 MHz
Cat 6 is made to more stringent standards than Cat 5e and is designed for 1-250 MHz
