McAfee getting stuck scanning 2 files... Hijack This Log als

Ok, obviously we have a virus on hubby's machine.

He noticed while gaming tonight, something wasn't right with his computer, in the game it the sound sounded like a cd skipping. He rebooted, still had a problem, he was running a motherboard monitor, and checked the temp, it was a little high. SO he pulled the computer out, took the cover off, letting it cool down, cleaned out the fans (rather gross). It worked fine for a while, but started up again.

He ran Ad-Aware SE, updated and all, cleaned everything up. Ran McAfee, and noticed it was stuck on 2 files, just keep reading them over and over. He searched for the files on the computer, and watched as the files seriously removed and added themselves nonstop. They just keep popping on and off of the screen.

I had him run Hijack This and here is the log...

The file is udhisapi (it will pop up with different numbers in brackets behind it.

I also had him run CWShredder, and made sure that his McAfee DAT's were up to date.

Hi Shirley,

You need to make sure you close all explorer windows and put hijack in a folder other than temp internet files.For example,create a folder in My Donuments named HijackThis to put the file in.This is where backups will be stored if there is a problem.

However,your log is clean.I would recommend running disk cleanup and delete the Temp files and Temp Internet files.

Go to and run a virus scan there.

If the game in question that was having the sound issues is Half Life 2, it's a known problem. They are working on a patch from what I hear.

Those temp files are just temp files. I wouldn't be concerned with them. But if are really concerned, go to the windowsupdate website and update your system with all the latest crictical patches.
