Internet connection problem with XP

Postby Tatsumi888 » Mon Dec 27, 2004 11:34 pm

Hi, I just recently installed Windows XP to my new computer. I hooked my computer up to my router, made sure the ethernet light was on in the back and checked my router to see if it was sending to my comp. Both looked good, just that my computer isn't recognizing it. Anyone know how to fix this? PS: Windows XP hasn't yet been activiated, could this have anything to so with it?

The new copies of XP coming out with sp2 on them have the firewall default set as on.

You need to go to the control panel--->network connections--->right click Local Area Lan select properties next window has 3 tabs at the top --select advance

then click setting for firewall and set it to off. Your router will handle this function

When you reboot the two should see each other.

The activation feature shouldn't "enter fear" with your connectivity

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately by the time I had seen your post I had already begun the reformatting process. I'll be sure to try this out and check if it works. Thanks a lot.
