Hey, My PC

Postby Tank » Mon Dec 27, 2004 11:59 pm

Hey all. I started building my system last night. First system I ever built before in my life, so I was so bloody nervous, I dropped the screwdriver on the MB like 2 times lol, everything looks ok. My hands were shaking. Reason being is like I said, this is my first system, but its all high end products.

Here is my specs, let me know what you all think!

AMD ATHLON XP 3000+ with Coolermaster Jet 7+ Heatsink/Fan and fan controller.
Asrock K7V88 Motherboard
iCute case with side window, 2 exhaust fans, 1 intake (Blue LED's)
52X32X52 CD-RW
16X DVD-ROM (40X CD-ROM)
2 x blue IDE cables with LIGHTS!
160 GB Western Digital Hard Drive with 8MB Cache
Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 256MB DDR3 Video Card
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
Kingston 512MB X 2 RAM, Dual Channel PC3200

So far I have got the CPU in, thermal gel of course, heatsink and fan installed, motherboard installed into case. Other then that, I am stuck lol. What do you all think?

Is this the same case?? »
If so I really like it. Especially the front intake fan. Looks like a jet intake  . Is your H/D SATA? I'm an INTEL guy though  . Very nice soundcard and vid card. Is the kingston memory HyperX? Get some pictures posted here when your all done.

Nope that isn't it. I will post pictures once I am done. I just got back from Canadian Tire, I needed some zip ties so I could straighten out my cables inside my case. I will let you all know when it's done. And no I am not running SATA. Thanks for the reply!

I have to admit a certain curiosity..

you have a 52x CD-RW AND a 16x DVD-ROM in there.. would it not have been better.. and cheaper.. to simply purchase a dual layer dual format DVD-RW drive instead?? you would still be able to write CD-Rs at 48x.. and CD-RW's at 12-24x.. but you would also have DVD-R capabilities as well...

The DVD burner is $101, the CD-RW and DVD-ROM I can get for about $50. I am just really tight on cash right now, that is why. I can support 4 IDE devices, in the future I will upgrade I think.
