Floppy Drive Problem

Postby Tatsumi888 » Mon Dec 27, 2004 11:37 pm

Hi, I'm using a Sony Drive with an AOpen AK86-L Motherboard. The light on the front of my floppy drive stays on when no floppy is inside, when a floppy is inseted it just makes noises. It does not recognize the floppy. I have checked the wiring to the drive, it looks good. Anyone know what to do? Thanks.

Hey there, and Welcome.....

If you have access to another floppy drive (from an old computer) I would try swapping it out with a different one...

It sounds to me like your floppy gave up on life...

If ya don't have one lying around, they are pretty cheap....5-10 USD.

Your cable is installed incorrectly. Take the red stripe and put it on pin 1, it usually has a triangle on it. I am assuming this is a new install. :)
System specs:

Clovebud No.7, Max Factor Hypersmooth, L'Oreal Lash Architect, The Body Shop Poudre Libre, 17 Nude blusher and hair by Uppercutz.

Thanks for your replies. I have checked another drive and got the same problem, so it must be a cable problem. I have not gotten to try checking the cable as I am currently reformatting my hard drive. I'll try it out as soon as I'm done.
