ATI Problem!

Postby Herm862001 » Mon Dec 13, 2004 5:41 pm

I have another problem, a friend of mine recently bought ATI RADEON 9700 PRO 128MB AGP 8X TVO/DVI Video Card. I installed the card and the drivers provided (Catalyst 4.5) and everything is sort of okay. I get some scrambled type and weird looking pixel bands of color. Usually disappears within a few minutes. I try to update the Catalyst drivers (4.11) and I get a scrambled screen upon boot up. I then have to do a restore system boot up to get back to normal operation. I have a Dell Dimension 4400 (P4 1.8, 768RAM) that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 1. I tried Service Pack 2, but it did not improve the situation, so I reverted back to SP1. I mostly play Medal Of Honor Allied Assault:Spearhead and Call of Duty. The computer is a hand me down, so I put the card in and everything worked fine with previously installed Catalyst 4.10. MOHAA worked at this point. I did a clean install of XP so I could have a fresh start. From that point on the card has been giving me problems.

it sounds as though the problem could be with your AGP drivers/port rather than with your vidcard/drivers..

try obtaining the latest chipset drivers for your mobo.. and make sure that the AGP port is set to run at 4x (you should be able to do this through the display properties once the driver is installed correctly)

best of luck
