linksys set up problems...

Postby Junior_co » Wed Dec 29, 2004 10:05 pm

I just got a Linksys Befsr41 V3(cable/dsl router) and a Linksys LNE100TX (an etherfast PCI adapter). followed the quick setup guides and now have a problem...

My newer computer seems to work fine. I am able to connect to the internet, access the router (192.168.1.1) etc...etc....

My older computer does not.....
I had to reinstall the driver for the pci adapter and it now shows to be working ok in the device manager.... In the sys tray (by the clock) there is an icon stating that the network cable is unplugged. I dbl checked and it is plugged in. The router's port light for port 2 (the one the old computer is plugged into) is flashing on and off about 1 time per second... The cable is brand new....

The old sys is Win XP Home SP1

Any thoughts....?

Thanks again

Junior

Any thoughts on this...

Try switching the cable fro your old system with your new computer
That way you can elimanate the cable as the problem or not :)

Well, we have eliminated the cable being bad, and the port being bad....

Now the newer comp is on port 2 with the new cable and the old comp is on port 1 and the port 1 light is doing what the port 2 light was doing prior to the switch.... the old comp is still stating that a cable is unplugged.....

is that clear as mud??

thanks.... again......
