Lightning Sucks

Postby liljim » Sat Jan 01, 2005 9:19 pm

I was brought a Dell Demension 2350 Desktop system that is believed to be struck by lightning.Although on a surge protector, best i can determine is the CPU is fried. It powers up, drives spin up, but doesnt post anything, monitor gets no signal.Video is onboard, tried a pci card, didnt work. There's no AGP slot.I tested the memory and hdd in another machine, works fine.I cleared the cmos which didnt help either. The sad part is i dont have any socket 478 parts to test the CPU or board. Is there any little things that i could be missing?Or if anyone has a 478 board or cpu they dont need, send it to me

oddlly, I had two in the last year that were brought in for repair that were hit by lightnening. What are the odds on that? One was so bad that we couldn't stop laughing when we opened it up.

I would try swapping out the power supply. and see if it boots. Both of these systems I worked on,lost their hard drive, and the one that did boot, no longer had onboard sound or nic that worked.
