File associations gone whacky...

Postby Cactus » Sun Oct 26, 2003 10:53 pm

This is a weird one...
I recently had Microsofts Photo Editor installed and it screwed up my file associations for .gif , .jpeg and .jpg files.
I manage to fix the .jpeg's but cannot fix the .gif files?

When I goto edit it in VIEW-FOLDER OPTIONS-FILE TYPES its not there...
So I select new and its not in drop down menu???

I need help!!!

Try this: Hold down "Shift" while "Right Clicking" on a . gif. Select "Open With". Select the appropriate program and select "Always use this Program..." brad

Ok...I can't double click it??
I can only single left click the the folder opens a pane on the left side showing the .gif file...which I can see!
The icon for the .gif file still is the Unkown win flag...

no...that didn't work either...
can this be fixed in the registry?

I installed Tweakui...never ran anything so I don't see this making these changes...regardless there must be a way to fix it...
