No sound after xp pro install because...

of ES1869 Plug and Play AudioDrive (WDM) not working properly. There is no speaker icon near the clock. When I go to the sound options, everything is grayed out! It says "This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)" The computer is and old Compaq Presario 5442. I've checked the internet, and people have had this problem too, but it was on 98 and ME, not XP Pro. It says to enable the firmware in BIOS. How can I do that? Please help, and thanks for taking your time to.

Funny but Compaq does not show show you having the ES1869
They say you have the ADI SoundMax AC97
