Burning CDs - pictures (data files)

Postby RioKhanada » Sun Jan 16, 2005 8:11 am

Hola folks,

You know...I begin to loathe Bill Gates more and more each day. The man is the devil's spawn, I swear.

Question: when I upgraded to Windows XP Pro, I lost my old CD burning software, so now I only have the XP burning thingie. I burned some photos to a CD. Great. Worked. NOW I tried going back to add some more (obviously I still have stuff to burn and tons of disk space left) but it is not allowing me to.

Does this stupid XP burning software NOT allow you to go back and keep adding files if there's space left? Is it a one-time deal and that's it?? If I'm doing something wrong please advise!! THANK YOU!!!

RioKhanada it looks to me like u burned your PHOTOS with a CD-R? is that correct? or did u use CD-RWs ?????? b/c with cdrws u can erase what is on the disk and then burn more on it. With a CDR you can only burn something on to it once and then the cd will "FINALIZE" hence the "cant burn more onto the CD"

***Now there are many programs that burn cds/dvds out there all over the internet that you could use***

Theres free trials like for this really good burning program Nero
1)

or many others depending what u like. U can google a search for cd burning program and u could find a lot

hope that helps :)

Another question...

Postby RioKhanada » Tue Jan 18, 2005 1:22 am

Someone else also suggested a free burner called CD Burner XP Pro -- anyone here use it? Is it any good?

I still can't add more to the disk I wrote about originally. I am going to attempt to do a new burn tonight and see what happens.

I meant to mention too that prior to my upgrade, when I *had* DIRECT CD, I had burned some data disks that now I cannot read with XP. Is there ANY way I can read those now?? Will I be forced to buy 3rd party software in order to read them? I had so much stuff backed up on those disks...I'll shoot myself if they're lost to the land of Gates (Bill, that is).

Thanks again for helping this techie newbie,

For some reason when I use Nero it always freezes my PC and the other pc's I've tried it on. I don't know why, it would always freeze on track 3. Maybe I just had a bad copy...who knows. I just use Windows to burn stuff.
