USB ports not working

Postby IrishHurricane » Sat Jan 22, 2005 9:57 pm

Hi.I`ve just insatlled windows xp and SP 1 onto a mate`s pc which previously had windows me installed.
I know he never had any USB devices attached before and now he wanted to upgrade to XP so he could get broadband with AOL.I`ve already installed XP on it and the damned USB ports arent responding. All is well in device manager and I`ve rolled back, uninstalled etc the drivers but makes no difference.
All help appreciated guys.
Thanks

It could be that the USB device is version 2.0 and the USB ports on his system are only version 1.0
I would check with the motherboard manufacturer to verify what USB ports are installed.
There could be a BIOS update that would make available the 2.0 ports if they were in fact installed.
