Postby robbro » Mon Jan 24, 2005 11:51 pm

My dvd writer thats just stopped working recently, wondering if any of you know what could be the problem? because it detects the DVD Writer , but when i put cd in takes ages to read and then my comp doesnt respond.

I think its busted its a TS-H552B Model DVD Writer by samsung, Rob.

You could try uninstalling the drivers and firmware
then uninstalling the device and rebooting?
Windows will find a "New Device" and reinstall the drivers
then you can reinstall the firmware and see if it works.

Yes by all means upgrade the firmware
Are you running xp sp2 and is that when the problem occurred?

Are your drivers up to date too?

Give this link a try...I know it's not your exact problem but it's pretty close, and they have some solutions posted.
