DOS commands. Anyone help?

Postby ColaBoy » Sat Feb 19, 2005 7:30 pm

I read an article regarding the net, connections and security etc a few weeks ago and they mentioned these two DOS commands that could be entered but I've completely forgotten what they are.

One command allowed to see what IP addresses your internet connection had gone through to reach its current location. The other simply listed what ports were open, possibly to hackers etc,as I remember one was shown to be 'LISTENING'

Any ideas anyone?

To trace you ip connection over a maximum of 30 hops it would be:
tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where the xs = your ip)

To displays all connections and listening ports it would be:
netstat –a

No,no. Its all coming back to me now. The command I used was netstat -ano and this contained PID codes. These codes were then checked to see what they refered to ie what port or process etc. Anyone now how I check the PID's in XP?
