pc i gave to my aunt

I recently gave a pc to my aunt (my old one) , i did not give her a monitor , but she told me she recently got a monitor but when it goes past boot up win 98 screen at (windows) it goes black and the light flickers on the monitor on and off. I did test the computer before i gave it to her, do you think its the monitor that she got? because its weird that it was fine when i gave it to her. Any ideas?

Have her try to boot in safe mode and see if the video comes up. There might be a shorter workaround than my method but its possible that you will have to uninstall the video card from safe mode, reboot to normal and then reinstall it with the new monitor attached. The settings on the video card are possibly set to a display setting that her monitor isnt capable of displaying.
