Well,I just formatted my drive and reinstalled everything. I loaded Sims 2,one of the games that Ive had problems with, and all was well until the screen went blank and my PC reset itself. Is this looking more and more like a overheat problem?

Run it till it reboots, when it does you can go into bios and check the temps. Of course not all bios has the option to but you can look for Hardware Monitoring, Health Status, or something simular if that board has it. If it doesnt, Everest Home Edition (see top left corner) should be able to give you temp readings. My CPU would act up anywhere above 57-58c , anything under that and it was rock solid.

78 is too high for that chip. The exaust fan should show another 5 to 10 degree drop, that should show a noticable difference in performance. Do you know what kind of heatsink and fan your using on the cpu?

The fan is a Cooler Master and I think the heatsink must be as well coz bought it as a fan/heatsink combo.

Noticed Ive only got one fan power connection on the motherboard so I swithed the fan to an exhaust fan thinking that getting the hot air out is the priority.

Well I just added an exhaust fan and I tried running a known problem game. So far so good its running ok so maybe that IS the problem.

I hope so!

Thanks for the reply.
