I am suprised firefox works for some reason exe files wont work at all just wont open.

Cant open command prompt. i can be a virus cause when i start up my computer a little screen pops up with unknown characters like šœ with an ok button then it would ask for my password and it would go to my desktop all the programs that would load on the start up would have the same error cannot open file: Filname.lnk. if anyone knows what i can do please help :(

it does indeed sound like a virus, their's tons of virus's that attack .exe's . Since you have internet, go to and run a virus scan a.s.a.p.

That is a little tricky you see my IE wont work i have to use firefox but when i try to scan with firefox it says i need to download a plugin so when i download the plugin it downloads as an exe and i cant run exe files :|

I just found away to open hijackthis and i have backups so i may of deleted something in the past with it so if you can tell me what to do from here i have hijackthis running i can even post a log.

Try renaming the plug-in to a .com extension and then run it
