Complete CMOS Failure

Postby afterglow » Wed Apr 06, 2005 3:04 pm

hiI
I went into my CMOS settings on my gigabyte motherboard, and found an option of 'top performance', when i enabled and saved this option- i restarted just like with any CMOS change, but then my pc went all crazy and wouldn't boot up right...all i get is my computer being turned on but theres no signal running through to my monitor (my monitor itself says 'no signal'), and i can't get back into the CMOS because it's not being displayed or booted up on screen...i'm really screwed in this point....

PLEASE, if some one has a way outter this or knows some one who does, please reply...any help would be appreciated

You should have a clear cmos jumper on the motherboard, usually located pretty close to the bios chip itself. On most boards, the header is marked as clear cmos and it will have 3 pins, with the jumper on 2 of them. Change the jumper from pin 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3, wait 10 or so seconds and switch it back. You should be able to boot but you will get a checksum error, its normal. Go back in to your bios and enter the right settings.

If you have your motherboard manual, it should show you exactly where the jumper is.

I have just experieced the same problem with my CMOS settings, but i just have different motherboard. yes, i believe that this is a case of power supply. I stressed out myself trying to see what it is and i finally just keep on clearing my CMOS over and over again.
I dont know if this will help, but i just wanted to attach and say that i just keep on clearing my CMOS and after each Clearing, i just wait for a long time.
