setup on Startup??

Postby bsxiong » Mon May 16, 2005 3:08 am

:?:

hi all,

I don't know what 's going on , but whenever i start up my computer, when it's loading up at the desktop, there is always this setup thing that always runs first, as if it was put on "startup" folder. I used spybot to try to dectect it, but nothing.......

Please help me.

The thing that we need to know is the name of the program that’s calling this up.

Download HijackThis you will find a link in the upper left of this forum under “Helpful Weblinks”
Extract it to it’s own directory and run Hijackthis,
click the “Open the Misc. Tools section” button
put a check in the box “List also minor sections (full)”
click the “Generate startuplist log” button, click yes
now copy the contents of the log and paste it into a new post in this thread.

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)
MsConfigs

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:
MsConfigs

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist (You kight have to do this in safe mode):

C:\Program Files\MsConfigs\MsConfigs.exe

There are a number of spyware/virus programs that disable the Taskmanager
Run HijackThis again, this time selecting to “Do a system scan and save a logfile”
Post the contents of the logfile back in this thread

I'm not the best on hijack files--I don't see anything bad in your log file--maybe someone else does.

Do you still have the Lexmark Printer? Lexmark printer software is real trashy--the tsr's never go away when you remove the printer and the software

Yeah, i'm still using my print-trio.

Well, i think i know how i got it. On the same day, prior to that i posted this issue, I was downloading A digital Guitar tuner for my guitar on Limewire. And when i unzip the file, it contains setup.exe. I open it (though i doubt it was it, and i had a feeling it was going to mess up my computer), i open it anyways. (now i feel silly).
Then my computer froze for about 30 seconds. and i instantly realized it. I cancel the installation.

Now i can't delete these files http://pataoxiong.com/dang.gif Whenever i try to delete them, everytime when i restart my comp. it will always be there again.

i think i have a spyware. You think so? Dang, i guess i need to format my comp again huh??

It looks like you have the new
You also do not have an anti virus program or a firewall running.
Try going to and doing an online scan.
