Pc Keeps rebooting :\

Postby backspin » Mon May 23, 2005 11:11 am

Hey guys

well recently i encounter this weird problem with my computer...
everything was going fine until a couple of days ago my computer rebooted
i though it was some kind of overload , cause i had the Pc on for 3 days , so i didnt worried much.. i left it off for a bit , though it was normal...
the problem came when it happend again as i turned the computer the next day :|
and everytime i tryed to turn it on it always kept rebooting , it stayed on for about 10 minutes or so.. and then rebooted.. that was weird since i had norton internet security and nothing showed up about a virus... i started thinking it was some kind of version of the msblaster so i runned a full scan to make sure and nothing came up :!:
the problem got worst as the time the pc stayed on kept getting less and i couldnt make a full scan or do anything!!!

so the next day suprise... an error showed up and it couldnt start the windows
the system file on C:\Windows\system32\config\ was corrupt or was missing , so i had to format the PC :(

well format done , so i though everything was back to normal hurray!! but it wasnt :|
the Pc kept rebooting as before , and this system file error happend 2 times... and it gets better , finaly symantec's NIS detected some virus "W32.Randex" and "W32.SpyBot" worms... tryed to remove them but i can even finish the scan!
im afraid if i format again the problem will continue...

if any1 can help me or had the same problem plz post anything usefull... im really getting desperate with this sh!t :(

sry about the long text...
yours trully mr i-got-my-pc-fuckd

Try booting into safe mode:
After you see the BIOS screen and before Windowes starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log' and uncheck ‘Automatically Restart’

Now your system will not reboot it will show a BSOD with the error code displayed on your screen.
Write down the error code and post it back here.

This could be a heat issue, turn off your pc
remove the left side cover and then start the system.
Look and make sure that all the fans are turning
leave the side cover off and see if that helps in the rebooting.

I would agree with Gecko about the heat issue. Its probably the cpu fan, you might want to check your bios settings to see if you have a temperature warning setting. It could be disabled. You should be able to read the cpu temperature from there also.

I also had a rebooting problem before. If the heat isn't the issue, try borrowing a friends ram. My ram was seeded badly, and it rebooted, prevented my CD/DVD drives from being recognized, and caused general mayhem.
