Install trouble

I'm trying to install Forgotten Battles but keep getting the following error message after the installation reaches 100%.

'Error 1305. Error reading from file c:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Il-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\fb_3do01.SFS. Verify the files exists and that you can access it.'

It then asks me to CANCEL or RETRY where Im forced to select CANCEL. On doing so Im then given the error message...

'Error - 1603 Fatal Error during installation.

Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.'

Its a second hand disc so I guess it could be due to a faulty disc.

Have you checked to see if the file is there?

c:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Il-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\fb_3do01.SFS

If it's there right click on it select Properties and see if it can be read, noting the file size.
Next check if you can find the file “fb_3do01.SFS” on the CD and check it’s Properties and compare file sizes.

Seeing how it’s a used CD you could try cleaning it with a mild detergent like dish soap, some warm water, and a clean cloth.
When you scrub, do it from the center out in a radial direction not circular
dry it with a lint-free cloth, again, rub in a radial direction, from the center out.

Well the file is there and I can cut,copy and paste it anywhere but I still get the message when trying to install. I tried installing it to another drive but I get the same thing.

I've registered here only to give you the answer/solution. You have got to copy the "fb_3do01.sfs" from the disc and paste it into the folder where you will install the game, let's say "D/Games/IL2FB". If you don't have it created, create it. Then after you have pasted the .sfs there just install the game into that folder, not "D/Games/IL2FB/IL2FB" just into there, where the file is.then the installation should run w/o problems.
