Similar HDD Problem

Postby fishoutofwater579 » Tue Jun 28, 2005 5:21 am

I have an 80 GB HDD in my secondary computer and every so often you can hear it shutting off and then spinning back up. It tries coming back up three or four times but then it quits. I have not tried it on another machine, I think that it is going bad. I don't think that it is the temp, it might be a possibility because after you let it sit for a good hour and a half it is fine for another 7-8 hours. What do you think?

If you think it is your hard drive you can go to the manufacturer’s web site
and download a diagnostic tool to check their drive’s integrity.

To find out the manufacturer of your hard drive:
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager button.
Now click the “+” sign next to Disk Drives that will tell you the manufacturer.

I did that and it passed but I think it only does it when it is running for a long time, regardless they are replacing it because my warranty is up in 13 days anyways and i would like to safegaurd myself
