Wireless Networking

Postby fishoutofwater579 » Sat Jul 09, 2005 5:53 am

Hey guys I need some help. I am having problems wirelessly connecting to my router. I have bought two NICs which I am sending back because the are not working properly and I have a good router. I have also called Netgear for help. Now I seek you guys.

I am running a WPN824 and I can connect wifi with my laptop and it's onboard card. When I installed my two WG311 cards, only one worked and that was only part of the time. It would connect and for the next 5 or 6 boots it would stay connected but wouldn't connect after that. I would then have to restart the modem and then it would start it's cycle over. The other card would not connect to the router. It would see it but not connect. Don't know what was wrong with it but I just am going to start clean.

So my question to you is: What kind of adapters do you guys think are the best for a decent price, and what do you think is going wrong with my wirelessness on my desktops?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS. I have one PC connected with a Netgear WG311T and I had my laptop connect with that same model. Never have I had a problem. Dont know for sure, but perhaps its something in your router configuration.

The thing is I have called netgear at least three times for these cards. They have said that everything in my router seems to be good. The only thing that one of them said is that maybe that the card is not binding to TCP/IP or something to that effect. I looked up in the bindings area in network connections and it showed that the wireless had the boxes checked with TCP/IP.

Maybe I should try getting the Netgear 311T. I had 311v2. The only thing is I am on a strict budget right now as I don't have a job and I need to get a car soon. So maybe I will look up some cards and see how they work.

Do you have any advice to try to keep this from happening again?
