Need New PSU

Postby simmons » Thu Jul 21, 2005 3:56 pm

Hi guys i need some advice please.

While cleaning my pc (somehow) a spark shot from my psu, and now my pc will not start at all.

My pc is:

P4 3.06ghz
1gb Ram
Ati 9600
dvd/cdrw drive
runs 2 monitors (if that makes a diffrence!?)
and a wintv TV card.

Im asuming that all i need is a new PSU, but i have no idea which one to get.

Do i need to match it to the original one:

Seasonic ss-300gs
Active PFC T3
200-240V 3.8A 50/60Hz

Or can i just buy any!?

I dont have alot of money so i cannot afford something really expensive....

I live in th UK, and have no ideas which makes are good.....

Cheers in advance (sorry for the long post, i didnt know how much info u would need)

Thanks!

ebuyer.co.uk is a good place to buy power supplies. Good idea to stick to atleast the same wattage as your current psu

You need to buy a "P4 ready" power supply. I'd recomend 350 to 400 watts. you should be able to pick one up for $30 US when they are on sale.

Sometimes you can buy a brand new case with a power supply for less than just purchasing just a power supply--so keep your eyes open.

Pay particular attention to the two plugs that plug into the mother board. Ones a regular power connector, the other is a 4 or 5 wire connector. Make sure the power supply that you purchase has the right secondary connector. A lot of the power supplies have both secondary connectors. A few don't
