NTL Uk Speed Upgrade

Postby mikepatton32 » Mon Aug 08, 2005 3:46 pm

Hello All

Just a quick one for anyone that uses NTL as there ISP soom good news coming soon, even sooner if you are currently on 3mb BB:- as on www.ntlworld.com

Get set for high-speed thrills
ntl has unveiled plans to set a new speed record for broadband. The move, to make a 10Mb connection its standard product, is due to be completed by the end of 2006. This is set to be the quickest consumer broadband service in the UK.

The first customers to enter the realms of F1 will be the current 3Mb Broadband customers. Customers will be upgraded to 10Mb by the end of this year. Their monthly usage allowance will increase from 30GB per month to 75GB per month. All other customers will be able to 'speed up' in 2006.

ntl also announced today that it plans to launch a range of unlimited usage services, at speeds below 10Mb. These will also launch in 2006.

There will be no change to the monthly tariff prices.

F1 Surfing
With 10Mb, surfing becomes a more enjoyable experience particularly if you have more than one PC at home. For instance, downloading a music track will take just 3 seconds (vs 30 seconds @ 1Mb) or a movie preview in 30 seconds or a 30-minute video in just 3 minutes (normally 30mins).

"Our broadband services will become amongst the most innovative in the world and certainly well ahead of anything else in the UK," said Simon Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of ntl. "This is a major step towards delivering Britain's digital future."

Some customers with older modems or hardware will need to purchase a replacement to experience the full benefit of the speed increase.

Today, there is no change to services. Today's news outlines the exciting future for ntl Broadband customers. Further details will be available nearer to launch. :)

Is that £37.99 just for an internet connection? Or is other stuff thrown in like telly and phone?

Seems expensive

1mb is 9.99 2mb is 24.99 and 3 meg is 37.99, its not with phone or tv, connection only, i dont think its that expensive as bt 1mb broadband is about 17.99 and with quite a restriction cap, so its 3 times faster for just over double the price, altough they do deals if you have tv telephone and broadband. Cant wait for 10 meg :)
When 10 meg comes out the 2 and 3 meg will drop right in price.

There's already someone offering 8mb, possibly more.... would also be interesting to see if other people begin to offer 10mb at a cheaper price. But yes... 10mb would be very nice :)

Do you have stock in NTL or do you just browse their fliers during your lunch break?

Just kidding with you :)
