hi, I have a 3.2GHZ 1ghz system with a x800pro card,

On buying battlefield 2 maybe some overclocking will be need as I really like to play on high settings and at the moment I am running just under the highest.

My x800pro is the shappire tech standard <non-vivo> and works well I have good cooling in the computer (arctic cooler 4 rev 2 on card 120mm cpu fan and two other 80mm pc fans> and most of the time one side of case open.+ extractor fan + some other
exust fan.

I have the redline overclocking programme that came with the card but I really know hardly anything on the problems of overclocking < i also have a programme to control card fan speed also>

firstly does any1 know the results that others have got overclocking this card secondly is there a limt to what the card's cpu core and memory clock can take even if the card feels cool and is being monitored<no temp gauge in this model>. If you overclock will there be signs of problems that can be taken away or do the problems remain once damaged (artifacts)
What is the best thing to do? What is more sensitive to change the core or mem clock and will it make any noticable change in framerate will it do anything usefull to game play.

That was my first post but no one answered so can u tell me this

i cranked up the arctic cooler to 100percent got a tool to measure core temp, got to 540/540 from 475/450 and my temp ranges from 35-42c the card can go up to about 90c before unstable so why on bf2 do i sometimes get artifacts?

hi ,

I am overclocking with redline and temp monitoring with RivaTuner (great+free )

I only got artifacts really only once on one level and havent got them since and it wasnt major, I dont know 540/540 is a big jump but it seems ok now, the thing is the x800 chips all have the same core processing R420 or something ( i dont know what i am talking about so feel free to correct me) so if the PE can run at those speeds why cant my super cooled card run like that. can you tell me what the core and the mem core do in terms of game increase, which one will effect frate rate ect. I dont know if i am really noticing any thing more out of the game really i think the frate rate is slighlty better but i dont wanna risk my card messing up. Forums normally say the more coolign the sky is the limit for overclocking, like water cooling ect.

Please advise thanks

There is probably little difference when you overclock, if the game runs fine without overclocking I would just keep it as is, no use risking it and damaging your video card for a tiny boost in graphics and frame rates.
