When my pc slows down I go to this website» and use the optimization guide that is there. You could give that a shot. It usually speeds things up for me.

If you have a legit copy of XP pro, then I suggest that you wipe the drive and do the install.

A lot of these custom packages that you get when you buy the unit are full of crap. Dell is a good example. 3/4ths of the icons, you'll never use and most of the "goodie crap" needs an upgrade or a credit card to keep it up to date.

The other issue you might want to look at is spyware. Top left hand corner of this web page has links to Spybot and Ad-aware. You could have a problem here, especially if you have kids that like to get on the internet

Hey Dhecks,

If ur not up to a reformat right away, it wud be worth the while trying some general housecleaning and stuff, you cud first run spyware scans, run a disk cleanup or use CCleaner, defragment the HDD and also trim your startup list if there are too many items, might give a performance improvemnt and speed up things, well even if you do reformat i guess it wud be gud to do all this regualrly.

:) Two Thoughts .

1) Your ISP connection

2) Clean up as some suggested

Here's one http://securitytango.com/tango.php
