dual videocards for one monitor?

Postby EricC-helpme » Wed Sep 21, 2005 1:24 am

My freinds dad was talkin about gettin 2 video cards for his computer. He said he could run half the screen with one and the other half with the other. Is there any truth to this statement? if so can you tell me how its done and can you use two different video cards to do it? :P :?: :?: :?:

I know that you can run a dual card with two monitors. Most of the new cards have one plug for the new flat screen and one for the older regular monitor. There is a converter to adapt the new flatscreen to an older monitor.

You can also run two monitors with a regular motherboard with an agp slot video card, and a pci video card.

What I am talking about, is that you only have one agp slot. So if your card is not a dual, you need to buy a pci card to install in another slot. A PCI video card is an older item, but they tend to be overpriced. You should be able to pick one up for $5.

My graphics card supports dual monitors. So i think its mainly down to the graphics card you have.

Lol i dont know why youd want the monitor split in two, but i dont know if its possible. Catalyst controll center has like some settings about secondary screens and that, but im not willing to mess about with my settings to see if it does what your asking, i dont wanna mess it up.

Soz, maby someone else knows.
