The windows CD is in perfect condition.

I looked on Asus' and Crucial's website and while they list compatable memory they neglect the one I purchased. Crucial has not responded as of yet but I decided to RMA my RAM anyhow and ordered some stuff that is listed as compatable.

We shall see...thanks for the responses!!

New motherboard did not help.

I may try to swap the CD rom with my old one and see if that helps...

Newegg basically told me they where a reseller and could offer me no help. Asus and Crucial have not responded to my troubles.

I have a lot of money tied up in this thing and getting nowhere.

<shrug>

EDIT: I may also try a new install CD I will grab from my mother...

EDIT2: anyone have any other ideas?

During the text-mode phase of the setup process, Windows pauses briefly and prompts you to press
F6 to install an OEM mass storage controller driver.
The onboard Sata controller for your motherboard needs to be installed at this point.
What driver are you using to install the Sata controller?

You need to use the "Intel (R) 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)" drivers

Still haven't had a chance to work on it. I am buying a KVM switch so I don't have to crawl under my desk to swap cords. I will let you know when I finish tring the suggestions above.

Thanks again for your help!

Well got the PC up and running.

I had reset the CMOS, moved my incompatable CD-ROM to the blue IDE port, and removed my defective WD Raptor drive from the system and all was well.

Thanks, a lot for the feedback.

One more concern...

My CPU seems to be running a lottle hot. It's hovering between 59 and 64 degrees Celcius. Is this too hot or am I paranoid?? I'm using the stock heat sink I got with the CPU and am not overclocking anything.
