PC problem and HIJACKTHIS log

Postby mithril » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:34 pm

Having a huge problem with my pc. Its definately infected, as I get insane pops all the time. Ive run adaware and spybots over and over again, in addition to hijackthisnow. Also, PC seems to run at 100% CPU all the time, even with no programs up. I cannot boot into Safe mode properly, when I do my desktop doesnt show up. Even when I do a ctl-alt-dlt and manually run explorer, my desktop will only appear every so often then disappear quickly. Ive tried deleting all files in temp folders too, not sure where all the temp folders are though. Here is my hijackthis, any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, and I am fully updated at the microsoft site, and have the service pack 2

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddccc - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll

Click Start, and then click Run, type or copy the following line into the text box:
regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll"
Now click OK

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll

If you cannot delete the above file then:
Start HijackThis and click the Open the misc tools section now click Delete a file on reboot
Select the following file to be deleted on reboot:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll
Click open but click no to reboot now

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your Recycle Bin, reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.

OK it looks like we found the exe that is writing the ddccc.dll file

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Reboot into safe mode,
After you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\spsgds.exe reg_run
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddccc - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll

Click Start, and then click Run, type or copy the following line into the text box:
regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll"
Now click OK, now type the run box
regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spsgds.exe"

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddccc.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spsgds.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your Recycle Bin, reboot

I also do not see an anti-virus program running I suggest that you try a free online anti-virus like
once you have finished a virus scann post a new HijackThis log.

At this point I’m going to recommend that you download
Install it, update it and run a Full system scan, you are going to be surprised by all it finds.
When it finishes go with the recommended actions and clean them out.
Reboot into safe mode and see if it runs correctly now, if it does then follow my above post.
The files may or may not be there depending on if MS AntiSpyware found them or not.

WARNING : BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU EDIT THE REGISTRY.

Try getting to msconfig... then going into the startup tab and disable the file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spsgds.exe

you can also try to remove this from startup by directly entering the registry and
navigating to (and hkey_current user) hkey_local machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
and then delete the registry value that shows the execuatable you no longer wish to start
