Data recovery help needed

Postby Gecko » Wed Oct 26, 2005 5:26 pm

Does anyone know any way to recover data from a SATA raid level 0 striped set?

Both drives spin up and are recognized in the BIOS and by the raid controller
but I suspect that one of the drives has a corrupted partition or NTFS table.
The error I’m getting after windows starts to load is “unmountable boot volume”

Can I connect an IDE drive to the system, load windows XP, load the raid drivers
then install a recovery program and recover the data from the SATA drives that way?

Will windows and therefore the recovery program recognize the striped array setup?

Nope, I'm just happy to help.

Good stuff. It's always nice when you look like a hero.

Let me know if you get all the data back.

I was able to recover the whole thing to an empty network drive.
I disconnected the two raid drives and installed a new SATA drive.
By pure luck it is the same drive model as the other two.
I used Drive Image to image from the network drive to the single SATA drive.
Rebooted and windows loaded
I checked and all their data was there.
I changed the array setup to raid 1 using one of the other drives.
Once it was copied I swapped out my drive put the copied drive as first and let it copy to their other drive.
Booted right up no problems, it’s running a scandisk for bad sectors right now should be done by morning.
The bonus is mine
