Internet and BSOD problems

Postby KenA » Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:13 pm

Hi guys I'm new here.

In the last few weeks I'm having trouble going on the net intermittenly. I'm on DSL by the way. I've got a P4 3.0Ghz with 1GB of RAM running XP SP2 and ZA.

Out of the blue I could be on the net and then..BAM...wont load up anymore pages. If I re-boot my PC I get the BSOD with the following error.:"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" error

When I re-boot agan it boots fine and the net works away again for another while.

I havent installed any new hardware recently and I think all my software is up to date.

Also, when i try to do a system restore, it wont restore no matter what date I put in.

My PC is free of spyware, trojans and other viruses as far as I am aware. I use AVG AV, Spybot, Ad-aware.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event viewer > on the left side click System.
Now on the right look for any yellow or red icons, if you see any click on the icon
and post the message back here, if you don’t see anything in the right side then:

Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > make sure there is a check in the box 'Write an event to the system log'

Next please download , unzip it to it's own folder.
Start HijackThis and select 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'
Now post the contents of the logfile back into this thread.

ok...I can see that for the last while I'm getting this message under system in the event viewer:

1. red x with "error" displayed.
it reads : " the kavsvc service failed due to the following error:the service did not respond to the start request or control request in a timely manner."

2. Yellow warning triangle which reads :
"TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts "

Open up your computer and look at the cpu fan. It might not be spinning or spinning very slowly. If thats the case, you need to replace the CPU fan

I really don’t see anything bad in your log.

Sometime MS burning can effect other burning programs.
Go to My computer and right click on your DVD drive, select properties
On the Recording tab make sure that “Enable CD writing on this drive” is Not checked.
