d915pgn sound driver help

Postby goo » Tue Nov 22, 2005 1:59 am

i have this d915pgn intel motherboard. it has its own sound card. the driver for this is realtek i think, but the one in the installer cd is not working. i read about this on the net and they said there really is a problem with some of the drivers on the installer cds. anyway i downloaded the driver from their site but that required win xp service pack 1.

other than getting a service pack 1, is there a place i can download this driver? i dont know the exact name (its realtek) of the sound card, i cant seem to see it on device manager. anyway, can anyone help? thanks!

See if your sound card has any yellow flags in Device Manager, if not,its a pretty good indication that the sound card is disabled in the BIOS.That would account for the cd not working.

If thats not the case, go back to the Intel web site and download the drivers for Windows 2000 and try them, if those fail, download the windows 98 drivers and try them.

These days, its rare to see a machine with anything less than service pack 2 muchless service pack 1. I really recommend you update windows or your device drivers are going to be the least of your worries.
