If your on a dial up modem interacting with a web host playing a game, that could be whats causing it. Your computer can play the download data faster than it can receive it. Its very noticable on internet radio where they stream the data and your computer chokes for a second or two untill its buffer fills up.

:?: Sound like what I had with PC games, the game would stutter for 3 to 5 sec
And go back to normal like nothing ever happened.

What kind games do you play? and what type video card and motherboard do
You have.

If its GeForce 6800 and Nforce 3 setup then there’s your problem.
Do a google search for 6800+Nforce3 stutter and you will see all
The other people having the same problem.

The only cure I have see from other people is to change from an
Nforce Motherboard to VIA Motherboard.

I have been lucky I don’t have stutters any more see the gamer lounge
And see the thread under little help and see how I got rid of my
Stutters.

A little thing to know is that most OPEN GL Games like Doom3
don’t stutter at all but for some reason DirectX games like FarCry
Stutter badly with 6800+Nforce3.

Specs
Thermaltake Tsunami Black/side window
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
GagaByte GA-K8NS Nforce 3
1GIG PC 3200 corsair
Geforce 6800 GT AGP

HDD 2 WDC 80 GIG PATA
Sound Blaster Audgy 2 ZS
NEC DVD/RW

My friend had a similar problem, with his KT400 and AMD XP2500+ and an
ATI 9600SE AGP.
He didn’t have the stutter problem until he upgraded the catalyst drivers
And went back to his default drivers.
For some reason his AGP texture acceleration was disabled which caused
Bad performance, Go to start and run and type dxdiag and tab the display tab
And see if AGP texture acceleration is disabled.

I've been wrong before, and I may be now, but I think Mark121 was right on with the driver issue.

I can't possibly see how the MS Anti virus could mess things up.

Mark was suggesting that the Via chip set was better and I agree, they are very agressive on fixing USB problems.

This leads me to suggest that you may have a USB confiict. Activate all of your usb devices and see if the problem returns.
