Hi Junior,

There are two things that control your monitor resolution capabilities, your video card and your monitor drivers.
If the monitor is using generic drivers then that could be the reason why you can’t get the higher resolution.

Hey Gecko...

Thnaks for the reply.

Here is my little conundrum...

The new video card will let me try and change the res to 1600x1200, so I have to assume the video card is capable of it....

The Monitor has been set to 1600x1200 for the whole last year, so it seems to be capable of it.....

Just seems that I should be able to set it that way now

Thanks for the info though...

Good on ya

Junior

I have read before that updating drivers can cause this kind of problem.
So one driver lets you have that resolution and a newer one wont.
Have you updated your drivers?

OK guys...

I can't believe that I'm about to type this out for all of the forums to read.

I feel like a horses Arse... :D :D

I hope that ya'll will still be willing to help me in my future crises

So... this afternoon, shortly after my last post, I was talking to "my better half" about the problem with the monitors and she says "Oh... I figured out what was going on..."

Turns out that when she told me she had it set up to 1600x1200, she was mistaking. It had always been set up at 1600x1024. :|

She was thrown off because this new video card doesn't give that resolution option, but does give the 1600x1200. All she remembered was the 1600 part and lept to a conclusion that led us down the wrong path.

So, now I humbly beg forgivness....

Thanks again and Good on ya'll

Junior

PS Can we find a horses arse emote???

Arse, I'm assuming that's a Canadian term for Ass.

By the way, I'm not laughing at you, but with you. I know how it feels to overlook something so simple.
