The CMOS connector is usually right next to the battery -- a round nickle size silver battery. The jumper usually has three prongs and two of them are connected with a jumper. You should see stamped on the mother board CMOS or RESET. The usual procedure is to change the jumper from its present state to the other state and then back. This clears the cmos and should stabilize the system

it will do nothing to your data, but that does bring to mind one thing, you need to go into the bios by hitting f2 or delete on boot (depending on the motherboard) and copy down the settings so you can reset them after you reset the board.

When you reboot you will have to f2 or hit delete again to get back into the bios to reset the values.(in my case I didn't have to.)

The solution for the two kyak boards that we have been working with, is do not uplug the power supply from the wall. Removing the power plug from the wall, forces me to reset the bios. So we leave them on--its not that acceptable, but its doesn't burn power in the off position.

This little bit of witchcraft seems to work give it a try under a full mood
