Video problems Asus P5ND2 SLI Deluxe MOBO

Postby kingfisher9833 » Sun Dec 18, 2005 2:12 am

Hello all,
I have a new Asus P5ND2 SLI Deluxe mobo that i have installed in my comp running 512 mb ddr2 pc4200 533 ram with a P4 3.0ghz cpu.
my problem is i install a radeon 9200se video card in th # 1 pci slot and get no Video at all.
I have tried the card in all 3 pci slots and nothing.
I know the card is good because i put it in my HP machine and it runs just fine.
The power supply is rated at 520 watts if i remember right.
Could it be that the bios (cmos) whatever be set for the PCI Express x 16 slots is why i am not getting any video from the PCI slot.
I have yet to install an OS on this machine.
Any help at all please
Thank you much
Mark

Is it posting? Do you get any beeps?

Try reseating the memory. If your running duals, make sure they're in the right slots.

I haven't seen an HP system that took a PCI e card yet. All of them were AGP.

I've never tried to put an AGP card into a PCI slot so I don't know if thats a possibility, but I do know that the radeon 9200se video card comes in both flavors AGP and PCI-E

Just thought I would run that by you, I've only done 2 PCI-E video cards builds, and I wasn't paying much attention to the cards, they were rush jobs.

For a guess, your card could be AGP when you need PCI-E--I hope I'm wrong on this, I'm at a blind spot here. All I know, is that Hewlett Packard is ususally way behind the tech curve on new stuff, and PCI-E is not something I have seen from them yet.

Thank go this is not an hp i am having problems with it is a built up from the ground up.
The card is not a pci express so that just may be the problem is that this board will or is only set up with the video bus on the pci Express x16 .
Atleast i hope that could be the only thing

The Radeon 9200se Video Card you have, could be AGP, and that, what us "not too rich." people use----The PCI-E card is definely a new, I gotta have card.
