cpu temp help

Postby swimstud » Sun Jan 08, 2006 7:49 am

I recently built a new computer and I have a question about my CPU temperature.

My new CPU is a 650 Intel 3.4, with stock heat sync it runs at 34 idle and 66 !!!!!! load

(load being "need for speed most wanted" with all settings maxed out)

Anyway, this seams really hot to me, I am afraid that I am going to fuse my processor to my board.

I found the temp website for my processor:

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/res...6.htm#table%201

(the table at the bottom tells the temp ratings)

It says my processor can handle 66.6 "case" and 38 "Fan Inlet"

but i don't know what that means.

I am using the software that came with my motherboard for temp readings, and I also am using speedfan (found at download.com)

Can anyone tell me if my processor is running at safe temperatures, and if not, recommend a better heatsync (my CPU is an LGA775)

Thank you very much!

66 is tolerable but lower would be better. Theres quite alot of coolers that would beat a stock one, but theres alot of personal preference involved. I like thermaltake products and one that would work for you is the

It has some great product reviews you can read as well.
