Some RAM Problems

Postby chuparon » Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:36 am

Ok, I took 2x 512 mb sticks of ram from one of my computer and put it in my current computer which used ot have 512mb of ram in it.

well anyway when i put it in, and ran directx diagnostics it only showed me having 512 mb of ram still. even though I put 2x 512 mb stick of ram in.

So i then run EVEREST and this is what it shows...

it shows it as me only having one stick of ram in my computer :(

but then i thought, what if my motherboard only allows up to 512mb of ram, and not 1024?

so i went to update my BIOS (have to wait for them to contact me) but i downloaded an application off their website, and it clearly states that my motherboard's BIOS allow for up to 1024mb of ram right now, but only shows me having 512mb and not the 1024mb that I have in there.

I guess what I'm asking is how do I get my computer to recognize the full 1gb of ram? and not just one of the 512mb sticks?

Motherboard BIOS Type: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
BIOS Date: 08/09/04
BIOS ID: 08/09/2004-PM800-8237-6A7L2E1BC-00
Chipet: VIA 82C259 rev 0

need anything else, just ask,

Thankyou,

Are they being seen in the BIOS? (at boot up press the delete key)

Try using just one stick at a time to check both sockets then try the other stick.
Either it’s a bad slot or bad ram I would say
