Irregular Shutdowns

Postby stretch » Wed Feb 08, 2006 3:07 pm

Hi all im having trouble with my computer ... well it started about a few months ago , my computer suddenly turned off . i thought it mite of been the fuse in the power cable or the cable itself so i replaced the fuse and it did it again . i replaced the cable and it kept on doing it . the trouble is my graphics card was not working properly so i thought it was that . yesturday i finally got round to installing a new one ** XfX Geforce FX5200 ** and it still does it , it only happens when im playing game such as LOTR or Unreal Tournement ... i have an idea on whats going on , i think its my power pack and my processer ... there fans are facing each other and i think its over heating . is there anyway onto finding this out ?

Any help would much be appreciated !!

Thanks in advanced

It does sound like it could be an overheating issue.
Try downloading
It will monitor all the temps and fans on your system.

Take the case side cover off to let in some cooler air if it stops the crashing then it's a heat problem.
It could be a fan going out or just dust in the heat sink.

Do you have a dog or cat?
You would be amazed how much hair can be inside a system.
